I did not have a macro lens when I did this, but I think the picture worked out very well anyway. I like the shallow DOF, which allows the background to give context but not intrude too much on the subject.

Old Truck of Awesomeness
I loved this truck when I saw it.
I loved it more when the owner started it up so I could see the brake lights! They would look AMAZING at night.

Helping Hand
This is not actually a junk yard!
At Chump Car 2011, the man who drove the crane truck was very helpful when not needed to get broken vehicles off the track. He lifted this car on and off a raised area so the team could work underneath it more easily. Beautiful image with the setting sun in the background.

Airtime take 2
And now, for a totally different kind of airtime!
They set up their jump and I did my best to set up the shot - without getting in the way of the guy with the controller or of the car. Wouldn't tickle to get hit by that! It was very bright out, so I darkened up the picture just slightly to keep the brightest parts from blowing out. I think it worked well!
1/250 (0.004sec) exposure, aperture f/5.0, 27.6mm focal length, -2/3 exposure bias, ISO 80

Random Saturday: Car
Last Saturday, a random house I passed. Today, a random car!
It's a cell phone picture, it's nothing fancy, photography-wise. But it's a really bright, cheerful car! (And it's parked on the yellow line.)

Reflections
This picture actually has 2 reflections in it. One is fairly obvious, the other, not as much. Can you figure it out?
The trick of taking a picture of a reflection, rather than of the thing, was taught by my first photography instructor. She didn't have a lot of time, but she was trying to give us some easy tips to take more interesting photographs, and this was an example of looking for things in unusual ways.
Have you spotted the 2 reflections yet? The first and obvious one is the person. The second is the vehicle's side mirror. No? You think that's the real mirror? Consider how useless a mirror would be to the driver if it was positioned in that location and at that angle - it's a reflection!

Not-so-old Car
Corvettes are not my favourite car, but the Stingray is definitely gorgeous. (This is the 1968-82 model.)
Especially in this non-stereotypical blue. What a shine! For my own tastes, the front is too long, but as a whole package, THIS is what a muscle* car should be.
(*Note: Yes, I realize there is some debate as to whether a Corvette is a sports car or a muscle car. It's a big, V8 American 2-door, so it's a muscle in my books.)

Old car
Alrighty, time for something that's NOT from my photography class. We went to a car meetup a couple of weeks back, and there were some lovely classic cars there.
I mostly meant to get the purple, open top in the front, but that yellow one with the flames is pretty great too! If I had been thinking, I would have aimed for both of them instead of cutting off the front of the back one.
